Players will have unlimited access to Kenway's ship, the Jackdaw and can take it pretty much anywhere almost right away since the world of Black Flag opens up much sooner than it's predecessors. Built on a completely open-world, players will sail the seas, attempt to find treasure and build your reputation as one of the world's most dangerous pirates. The core gameplay of Black Flag is built mostly on the naval combat of Assassin's Creed 3. ".upgrade the Jackdaw with new weapons and crewmembers." The most time you'll have to spend in the modern day setting is no more than twenty minutes (and they are grueling) and the majority of the story deals with Kenway and his life as a would be assassin. There's a ton of content in Black Flag, but how much of it you enjoy depends solely on how much you like the game's departure from series mechanics.Ī lot of the core gameplay mechanics have been improved but admittedly, not all - in fact, some suffer. Though you'll have to grind a bit to get your character and ship the upgrades you'll want, the adventure and action gameplay here is a thrill, when you're not on the game's ridiculous follow missions. Though there's some pop-ins here and there and the framerate has a few issues (they're rare), Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is easily the best looking game of the franchise.
